The Trinidad and Tobago Green Building Council on the evening of October 21st 2016, held its sixth Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Marriott Courtyard, Port Of Spain. Our President, Rudranath Singh, kicked off the meeting with a warm welcome to all of our members and outlined the evening’s proceedings.

The first order of business was the review and acceptance of the minutes for our previous AGM. This was followed by a review of our activities and accomplishments over the past year. Within this presentation, Mr Singh discussed the significance of sustainability, particularly within the built environment and the role of the Council in spearheading meaningful change through its various efforts and initiatives. He also reviewed our strategic goals and objectives, the past Executive members of the Council, and highlighted many of the events, workshops, and conferences we either attended or hosted. Some of these included the IAM Competition, annual Breakfast Meetingand Green Drink social, public forum, technical sessions, and collaborations with other organizations such as the University of the West Indies.

Next on the evening’s agenda was the presentation of the financial report for 2015, which was done by Mr Kerone Yearwood. The financial update was followed by the election of a new Executive for 2016-2017. With the exception of Mario Lans, the 2015-2016 Executive was elected for a second term. Mr Yearwood was elected however to the position of VP Research & Development, replacing Mr Lans. The post of VP Advocacy & Awareness was taken up by one of our members, Mr Devanand Ragbir.

With the new Executive elected, Mr Adelwyn Holder, VP Marketing & Communications welcomed the new Executive and thanked the membership for their continued support and contributions toward the successes of the TTGBC. He also echoed previous calls for greater involvement of our membership in the various Executive Committees, tasked with the responsibility of implementing many of the Council’s annual objectives, and encouraged everyone to connect with the Council via its social media outlets.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of our members who attended the meeting and do look forward to their continued support in the year to come. All in all, a fitting end to a productive year for the TTGBC and an inspiring start for the new term!
